Teaching

An experienced pedagogue, Simon Powis has given masterclasses, conducted workshops and taught individuals at a variety of institutions around the world. Simon’s doctoral research at Yale was based in pedagogy and focused on how classical guitarists can tackle the daunting task of sight reading. With help from John Williams, Ben Verdery, David Leisner, Jerry Willard and several others the research provided some interesting insights into a topic that is often mis understood by many guitarists. Simon has given sight reading workshops and seminars at Yale, the New York Guitar Society, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and at the Maui Summer Class in Hawaii.

In addition to teaching in person Simon has created a website – www.classicalguitarcorner.com – where anyone can choose to study a variety of lessons that are available.
