The best excuse ever…
Last Saturday at 12 pm I had a concert confirmed at the Long Island Guitar Festival… for the next day. Amanda Cook and the Appassionata Trio were stranded over in England by the indomitable ash cloud produced by the Icelandic Volcano “Whchamicallit” I was very disappointed that Amanda wasn’t coming over because I was looking forward to a long overdue catch up! After whipping together a program of works that I felt comfortable with I headed down to Long Island on a three hour train ride. (not as long as the guy sitting next to me who was going from Boston to Miami!!)
In the end the concert went well and it was quite an experience to remain focused and optimistic leading up to the performance. I learned a lot about focus and how important it is to keep a recital ready to go at the drop of a hat.
Needless to say the Chianti after the concert was well needed
